A Season of Discernment

In April 2026, we began what we expect will be an important season of discernment for The Welcome Table. Together, we started reflecting on who we are, what is most meaningful and life-giving in our worship and community life, and how we might shape the next chapter of this community together. As a community led by the community, we believe this process is not only about what we want but also about what we are willing to help build, strengthen, and sustain together. Most importantly, we want to seek where God is leading us and who God is calling us to be in this next season. For that reason, we need everyone to take part. Every voice matters in this process and we ask each person in our community to make space to reflect and share your thoughts in the weeks ahead.

On Sunday, we offered a simple definition of discernment: seeking to understand, together, where God is leading us. We hope everyone will be lifting this season up in prayer and engaging it personally in whatever way is meaningful for you, such as prayer, silence, journaling, conversation, or simply paying attention to what stirs in your heart and mind. The Servant Leader Team has proposed this core question to guide us: What model allows The Welcome Table to remain deeply itself while also being sustainable?

The image above highlights the two questions at the center of this process: what is meaningful to us in worship and community, and what are we willing to contribute? We plan to include a link to a form in next week’s newsletter so that everyone can share their reflections in writing. We hope you will also plan to join us for our Town Hall Gatherings as we continue listening, discerning, and shaping this next chapter together.

In the meantime, please always feel free to reach out to us with any thoughts or questions you'd like to share.

We are deeply grateful for this community, for the ways you show up for one another and for the care, honesty, and love you bring to moments like this. Thank you for helping make The Welcome Table what it is and for being willing to help imagine what it can become.
