A Season of Discernment - Update 1

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, we continued our season of discernment by spending time together in conversation about what feels meaningful, life-giving, difficult, and unsustainable in this season of The Welcome Table. Together, we named the parts of worship and community that we most want to preserve and strengthen, while also being honest about the places where we need a more sustainable way forward. We then began imagining possible “holy experiments”: practices or models we might try for a season as we listen for where God is leading us next.

We were able to get through voting on those ideas and we are grateful for everyone who participated so thoughtfully and honestly. In the coming weeks, we will share those ideas in a Google Form so that others can add their voice and help us continue discerning together. After that, we will identify the top 3–5 ideas and begin building out “holy experiment cards” for each one, naming what the experiment would preserve or strengthen, what challenge it would address, what it would require, who might help carry it, etc. We will review and discuss those more fully at our next Town Hall as we continue asking: What model allows The Welcome Table to remain deeply itself while also becoming sustainable?

If you have not yet completed the initial discernment survey (or if you have more to add), we encourage you to take time to do so (click on the link below). Those main questions remain important: What feels meaningful and life-giving to you in worship and community? And what are you willing to contribute to help build, strengthen, and sustain this next chapter? You are also welcome to continue reaching out directly to Brandon or our Servant Leaders with thoughts, questions, hopes, concerns, or suggestions. This process needs the wisdom, honesty, prayer, and participation of the whole community as we listen together for where God is leading us.

We are grateful for each person who has helped shape The Welcome Table so far, and for the care, honesty, prayer, and love you continue to bring to this shared discernment.
