Defiant nuns flee care home for their abandoned convent in the Alps

Three elderly Austrian nuns — Sisters Bernadette (88), Regina (86) and Rita (82) — slipped out of a care home and, with the help of former students and a locksmith, returned to their former Kloster Goldenstein convent where they spent most of their lives. Church authorities say the building is no longer suitable for independent living, but the trio, who say they were moved against their will, have partially restored utilities, are being cared for by supporters, and insist they are happily staying where they belong.
